About this place
Open the door to a classically British atmosphere and a welcome sense of calm. On the 2 floor of a building in Nishi-Azabu, Cafe British serves more than 30 varieties of tea alongside baked treats made to accompany them. Table service and a relaxed setting make it easy to enjoy a quiet cup, whether you come alone or with company.
A wide choice of more than 30 teas to suit your mood
One of the tearoom’s defining features is its selection of teas, with options to suit different tastes and pairings. Rukuhuna Butler has a rich, full-bodied character that works well with milk or sugar; Nuwara Eliya Little England offers a pleasant astringency, while Ceylon Dimbula is bright and refreshing. There are also classic teas for drinking straight or with milk, gently spiced Masala Chai, caffeine-free Rooibos Cherry with its cherry aroma, and fruit-flavoured teas scented with cassis, apple and other fruits. The range makes it easy to find a cup for the moment.
Traditional British scones and cakes, plus satisfying savoury dishes
For a tea-time treat, try a crisp-edged scone served with clotted cream and blueberry jam, or Victoria cake layered with buttercream and strawberry jam. There are also sweets that bring out the character of the tea, including a Basque cheesecake made with the house’s Little England tea. The savoury menu ranges from prosciutto and mozzarella panini made with bread baked in-house to creamy pasta with prosciutto and spinach, offering options for anything from a light lunch to a more substantial meal.
The British Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed on the day without a reservation, with a choice of 2 drinks. Scones and tea are also available to take away. Take time to explore the aromas, choose a favourite tea and something sweet, and settle into a peaceful British-style tearoom.
